On May 27, 2025, the mountaineering world once again witnessed history being made as Kami Rita Sherpa, one of the most celebrated high-altitude climbers, stood atop Mount Everest for a record-breaking 31st time. Leading the Indian Army Adventure Wing Everest Expedition 2025, Kami Rita reached the summit early in the morning via the traditional southeast ridge route.

Known globally as the "Everest Man", Kami Rita Sherpa is not just a name but a living legend. Born in 1970 in the village of Thame in Nepal's Solukhumbu District, Kami Rita began his mountaineering journey in 1992 as a porter. He summited Everest for the first time on May 13, 1994, at the age of 24—and since then, has returned to the top of the world nearly every year.

In addition to his 31 Everest summits, Kami Rita has also scaled other iconic 8000ers including K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu, showcasing an unmatched level of endurance, expertise, and resilience.
