The primary climbing season for Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II in Pakistan is during the summer months, generally from June through July. Weather and climbing conditions in the Karakoram can change rapidly, so the actual summit window depends on weather forecasts, route conditions, snow and ice stability, acclimatization, and the availability of a safe climbing opportunity.

The duration of the Gasherbrum I & II Expedition depends on the expedition itinerary, acclimatization strategy, weather conditions, and climbing progress on both mountains. A complete program normally includes arrival in Islamabad, preparation and logistics, the journey to the Karakoram, approach to Base Camp, acclimatization rotations, climbing of Gasherbrum II and Gasherbrum I, descent, and return to Islamabad.
