Known for its relatively more “approachable” route compared to neighboring giants, Gasherbrum II is often considered a favored choice for those aiming to grow into the elite league of 8000-meter climbers. However, its beauty and technical challenges ensure it remains an accomplishment only for the well-prepared and determined.
Historically, Gasherbrum II was first explored in 1909 by an Italian expedition led by Prince Luigi Amedeo, the Duke of Abruzzi—a legendary figure in early Himalayan and Karakoram exploration. His journey marked the beginning of humankind’s connection with this towering snow pyramid.

With our expert Sherpa leadership, industry-leading logistics, and a focus on safety and success, we offer climbers the opportunity to reach one of the most compelling summits in the Karakoram.

What’s included in your package
Arrival and Departure: Airport-hotel transfers (pick-up and drop-off) by private vehicle. Hotel Accommodation in Islamabad: 2 nights in a 4-star hotel (single room, bed & breakfast). Welcome Dinner: Dinner in a tourist-standard restaurant in Islamabad with office staff.
Expedition Permit: Royalty and permit fee from the Pakistan Government for members and Sherpa. Liaison Officer: 1 government liaison officer with full equipment, salary, and accommodation. Garbage Management: Stool shipment transfer and garbage deposit fees. Satellite Communication Permits: Satellite phone and walkie-talkie permits for all members and staff.
Duffle Bag: One 14 Peaks duffle bag. Member Luggage: Up to 60 kg per member, carried by porters or mules. Porter Support: Porters per member up to and from Base Camp. Base Camp Staff: Experienced base camp cook and kitchen helpers (1 Nepalese and 1 Pakistani cook). Staff Salary and Allowance: Salary, daily wages, equipment, food, and clothing for Nepalese and Pakistani staff and porters. Climbing Sherpa: 1 government-licensed climbing Sherpa per member (1:1 ratio) for the entire climb. Sherpa Assistance: Climbing Sherpa to assist in carrying gear to high camps.
Member Transportation: Domestic flight from Islamabad to Skardu and return. Jeep transport from Skardu to Askole and back. Staff Transportation: Islamabad to Askole via Skardu (bus/jeep) for Sherpas and expedition staff. Expedition Equipment Transportation: Nepal to Pakistan (air cargo). Islamabad to Askole (truck/jeep). Askole to Base Camp (porters/mules). Reverse transportation upon return.
Food and Lodging: Three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, including tea and coffee). Accommodation in hotels, lodges, and tents. Hygienic fresh vegetables, meat, fruits, soft drinks, and juice. Well-managed base camp setup. Camping Equipment: Individual box tent per member at Base Camp. High-altitude tents (2 members per tent). Dining tent, kitchen tent, communication tent, toilet, shower tent, staff tents, store tent. Tables, chairs, and all necessary cooking gear. Base Camp Heating: Heater in dining and other necessary tents. Solar and Generator: Power supply for battery charging, laptops, and other electronic devices. Training at Base Camp: Oxygen use, mask regulator, ice wall, and ladder training by a guide.
Oxygen Supply: 3 summit oxygen cylinders (4L) per member. 2 oxygen cylinders per Sherpa. 1 set of oxygen masks and regulators per member and Sherpa. Backup oxygen cylinders, masks, and regulators (subject to charge). High Camp Services: High-altitude tents. Cooking gas, pots, and high-altitude food for members, Sherpas, and crew at Camp 1, Camp 2, and Camp 3. Group climbing gear, fixed and dynamic ropes. Rope Fixing Team: Experienced Sherpas, including personal Sherpa, will fix the route to the summit (no extra charge).
Satellite Phone: Carried by Sherpa for emergency communication (available for members at an additional charge). Walkie-Talkie: For communication between Base Camp and mountain teams. Weather Forecast: Regular updates from Meteotest, Bern (Switzerland).
Insurance: Medical and emergency rescue insurance for all Nepalese and Pakistani staff. Medical Kits: Comprehensive medical kit for members and staff.
Certificate: Gasherbrum II climbing certificate issued by the Pakistani Alpine Club upon successful ascent.
Cargo Clearance: Assistance for cargo clearance in Pakistan’s customs (clearance costs apply). Return of Equipment: All expedition gear must be returned after the expedition.
What is not covered in the itinerary
International Airfare: Round-trip flight to/from Islamabad. Pakistan Entry Visa Fee: Visa fee for a 90-day stay in Pakistan.
Meals in Cities: Lunch and dinner in Islamabad and Skardu (including early returns from trekking/expedition). Extra Accommodation: Additional nights in Islamabad or Skardu due to early arrival, late departure, early return from the expedition, or domestic flight cancellations.
Early Return Costs: If a member withdraws early, it will take 1-2 days to arrange porters and logistics, requiring extra mandatory charges for the return journey.
Insurance Policy: Comprehensive insurance covering medical, high-altitude rescue, trip cancellations, interruptions, medical treatment, evacuation, and repatriation (Mandatory). Personal Expenses: Telephone calls, internet, toiletries, battery recharge, hot showers, laundry, soft drinks, beers, and alcoholic beverages (except soft drinks provided at Base Camp).
Personal Climbing Equipment: Clothing, packing items, bags, personal medical kit, and all personal trekking/climbing gear. Toiletries: Soaps, shampoos, toilet paper, tissue paper, toothpaste, and other personal hygiene items. Filming Fees: Special filming, camera, and drone permit fees. Internet Service: Not included during the trek.
Summit Bonus: Minimum $2,000 USD for the climbing Sherpa. Tips for Staff: Minimum $500 USD for Base Camp and high-altitude staff. Extra Services: Any services or activities not mentioned in the itinerary or listed in the “Cost Includes” section.
